Spirit Williams is an internationally known artist happily residing here in the Hocking Hills. She creates sculptures in relief, in the round, and in overlays and semi-relief. Her medium is native wood, in which she creates portraits, wildlife, birds, and architectural details like doors and mantels.

Waldena Hendrix - Pine Needle Artist


Waldena Hendrix is a pine needle artist.  She lives near Laurelville, Ohio, nestled on the edge of the Hocking Hills.  She creates decorative and unique baskets, vessels, containers and jewelry through the ancient and tedious art of coiling pine needles.  Her work incorporates wood, pottery, found objects and more, creating one-of-a-kind pieces.

James & Suzanne Hiser - Painted Bowls

James and Suzanne are artists who live and work on their 80-acre farm near Ash Cave State Park. Together they search their woods for suitable downed and dead trees. James dries and turns the wood on a lathe. Suzanne paints images of the farm's flora and fauna on the bowls. The bowls provide an artistic, natural touch to a home's decor.

Yvonne Struble   - Oils; Acrylics  

Joined HHACA in May of 1976 (club organized in 1973). Yvonne attended Adult Education Class in Painting at Logan High School in 1976. Her favorite oils & acrylics style is landscapes. Yvonnend has had artwork purchased as far away as New Zealand, New York and across the states. In 1998 Yvonne received the Living Treasure Award.  She served as HHACA Treasurer twice for a total of twelve years.  "All in all, a very rewarding and endless journey."

Diana Fickel   - Jewelry  

Diana has made jewelry since she was 19 years old. MacramĂ© was her specialty, and she still makes those pieces. Her first sale was at the HHACA Show at the Armory in 1977.  She decided to join the club four years ago, where she received the Living Treasures Award in 2010.  Diana's passion is working with wood, glass, bone, stone beads and leather.  Last year she started wire wrapping stones for necklaces, earrings and bracelets.  One of a kind and special orders are taken and similar pieces can be ordered for special occasions and weddings.

Roy Bontrager   - Woodworking & Woodcrafting

A retired family physician, Roy has enjoyed woodworking and wood crafting since adolescence.  He is involved in each stage of woodworking, namely the curing and drying of the lumber as well as milling all his own wood in his woodshop. Roy will do custom order requests such as benches, boxes, shelves and bookcases. More recently he enjoys creating woodturning pieces such as bowls, gift items, and wooden Cross Pens from both native and exotic and imported woods. Examples of the different types of woodcrafts are on display at Office City on Main Street, The Bowen House gift shop, and the Workshop on Wood St in Logan. Dave Brimner - Pen & Ink

A native of Logan, Ohio developed a love of drawing at an early age. He began selling pen and ink sketches in 1997 and has sold hundreds of sketches and prints nationwide. Many of his sketches are of plants and animals native to the Hocking Valley but also include, old barns, gristmills, covered bridges and light houses. He does do sketches by request such as old homesteads or historic buildings. Call for prices.
